A  Physician  cannot  safely  administer  medicine  if  he  is  unacquainted  with  Astrology  said- Hippocrates- Father of Medicine.

 

In ancient India, astrology was given due importance before treating the patient. Epitome to the above statement is that Astrology and medicine are essentially interrelated as science and religion. Life has three dimensions – Karma, Maya and Moksha.

Karma is further evident under physical, mental and spiritual plane. The quintessence of evil karma's- Past and Present on a physical plane is Disease.

Disease may be classified as Inherent and active. Inherent symptoms of disease are shown in natal chart as afflictions. Inherent as the word suggests ‘To Inherit’ or receive from ancestors the disease which remain in the body and become prominent under the malefic periods. Active diseases make their appearance with every evil transits.

The Moon represents Mind, Ascendant the body and Sun the Soul and is the essential contents of life. So for a healthy living these three should be free of afflictions. At least Sun and Moon i.e Mind and soul should be unaffiliated even if Asc is afflicted by unfavorable aspects and conjunctions. 

Diseases are the direct result of our evil karma's and are revealed by horoscope through the planets and it is possible to diagnose them through astrology. Karmic afflictions are decoded by planets Rahu, Ketu and Saturn. Hence when these are connected with disease giving planets and Asc the disease is very severe.  Ascendant is a strong pivotal point for healthy living. The disposition of 1st house is very important from karmic point of view and if the 1st House is afflicted, it is sure result of past karmas. Any affliction of Rahu on Asc has a lasting effect on mind and soul.

10th house should also be considered important to know disease and death of a person as profession is a very pivotal part of human life. Some ailments have their cause relating to 10th house, like a pilot dying of air crash, miners getting trapped or a person suffering from writers’ cramp etc.

The correlation between planets and disease were established thousands of years age by our great sages, who by their meticulous observing and study of charts found out certain combinations of planets caused certain disease. By this, we may conclude that astrology is as good as any other system or better in diagnosing disease much prior to its onset.

Astrology is believed as ancient occult science and is given great importance by all the civilizations. In India astrology and Ayurveda go side by side in determining disease and its cure. Astrology also explains human body in its own essence and terminology. The human body is called Microcosms (Pindanda) and possesses all the essence of Macrocosms (Bramhanda) and both are made of Pancha Butas.
